Prostate

I want to shed light to those who have been affected by cancer. The subject itself is meant to invoke thoughts. Believe it of not, almost everyone knows someone who has this disease. Cancer has been a topic that has hit home for me in many ways. Not just a disease but a reality that has impacted my family for generations.

My mother's untimely death from lung cancer was a defining moment in my life, and it continues to be a wound that has yet to fully heal. Watching my aunt's battle with colon cancer only added to the pain and heartache that our family has experienced.

Cancer is a formidable foe that has no respect for age, race, or gender. It strikes anytime and has no regard of what and who you are. Once around this disease, it gives a different perspective and a reminder to be present and cherish what is on hand. Each moment can be defining.

Despite all of these negative experiences, there is hope and we must strive to always look on the brighter side. Treatment and prevention centres are accessible and are evolving now more than ever.

Support is available. Education is available.

If you have been affected by or know someone who is - know that you are not alone. Have hope.
