Repetition has value

Once a wise man told me - repetition is key to master something and I thought mmm isn't it that the repeating something expecting a different result each time is the definition to insanity?

Well yes - though the context isn't wanting a different result or a different answer or an expectation to have something different that will come out of it.

He explained further, it is like saying the words "I love you" to someone you truly love, there must be no expectations - there is a touch of something deeper each time. You realize something more elusive in each statement when you say it when you don't mean it.

Just like in practice - the more you pursue your crow the stronger your body gets. Muscles will form where they are needed - I always remind my impatient self to take the time and breathe while at it.

It will come.

Be hopeful.

Shrooms | Cooking with Enokitake

To start the week right, I thought I would boil some water with sodium aka soup to replenish what the sun and the festivities took out of me last week - The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth = Calgary Stampede.

I got inspired after all salute to history at last week's Calgary Stampede. Always curious how to cook enoki mushrooms - here is what I found out.

1.) Just like any mushrooms, enokitake [Japanese] is best sautéd.

2.) Can be eaten raw.

3.) Best paired with sesame oil.

PS: tried the shrooms with some broth and vegetarian balls - love love loved it.

Enjoy!

Pork and Beans | 2nd Stampede Dish 2017

Have you ever found yourself searching for more than just one slice of pork inside a can of pork and beans? Well growing up, I have!

I was so disappointed at first till *growing up on a general merchandise store - on shipment day, I would sneak in grab two or three cans of pork and beans. Quickly opening them all up and seeing if maybe one production line worker missed the mandate of only placing a slice of pork in the can, I realized it isn't porks and beans but just pork and beans.

Meaning more than just one bean and some portion of pork so to be true to its name.

The realization took me a second. I mean seriously, who does that - I felt *and even to this day, deprived on such an easy to eat hearty meal in a can.

I grew up looking for the extra pork in the can of pork and beans. So finally I got the right recipe to make it myself and this time having more pork than beans in the dish! And still keeping its popularized name.

I grew up looking for the extra pork in the can of pork and beans. So finally I got the right recipe to make it myself and this time having more pork than beans in the dish! And still keeping its popularized name.

So I thought I would make my own version of pork and beans from scratch inspired by the pork and beans in a can but this time - the pork portion is more substantial than the beans. After all its whom I call friends that will ended up eating it.

As a home cook, I believe feeding your guest, clients, and others what you would eat yourself.

So enjoy and if you'd like the recipe - I'd be happy to share.
